Parent Council
Understanding what goes on in school and having a say in what happens there is important to all of us. The purpose of the Parent Council is to provide a voice for all our parents and carers, working with the school and the local authority on issues that are important to us and our children. As parents and carers we have a lot to offer the school in terms of interests, skills, and experience and it is this partnership that helps to support the education and welfare of our children.
Being involved in the Parent Council can involve as much or as little time as you like. In terms of time we meet every 2 months for approximately 2 hours where we discuss any current issues and often arrange for people to come and talk to us about services associated with the school.
Due to work commitments Colin Esslemont stepped down from his role as Chair in February 2024. For the remainder of the academic year the Chair of the Parent Council is Mr Richard Sharp and elections will take place in new academic year for both a Chair and Vice Chair as terms of office come to an end.

All meetings start at 7pm and finish by 9pm at the latest. This year our summer meetings took place in person and those over the winter months were online.

We welcome parents at any of these meetings as observers and parents can look at join the Parent Council at any point in the year. It is really important that the Parent Council is representative of our wider parent forum. Please give consideration to whether or not you could add value as part of the Parent Council to the improvement journey of Mackie Academy.
