Update to Pupils and Parents: week beginning 10.01.22

To all our pupils, parents, carers and members of our community a Happy New Year.  At this challenging time I hope you managed to see loved ones and friends over the festive period.  Thank you to everyone for a very smooth start to term last week.  We know a significant number of our young people and staff are currently at home due to a positive C19 diagnosis but we continue to aim to provide as good a service as we possibly can going forwards.  As and when we need to make changes we will ensure that we update you as swiftly as possible.  However, please be aware that things can literally change on a daily basis so we may be restricted in the notice that we can give you.

All relevant information has been updated on our Pupil and Parent Information Site.  This includes all relevant updates into our Recovery Guide  following revised guidance from the Scottish Government last week.  In addition to this you can find updates on:

  • Guidance around home learning due to a C19 diagnosis here  as well as other support mechanisms for pupils learning from home on our Learning and Teaching page.
  • Information on Free Bus Transport for U22s and an opportunity to give your thoughts on the Scottish Government’s Litter and Flying Tipping consultation.  These can be found on our School News page.
  • Our Red January Health and Wellbeing event being led by one of our Pupil Leadership Teams that allows all the family to participate.  Further information on this can be found on our Health and Wellbeing page.

For those of you with pupils in S1 you may be interested to look at the approach that has been developed by all Faculties across the school to address some of the concerns raised last term around behaviours of our young people.  You can read more about this here on our Learning and Teaching page.  In line with this we are asking for parental support with our S1 pupils remaining on site for lunch currently and we will review this, in tandem with the progress in classrooms, at the February mid-term break.

Finally we look forward to welcoming as many Senior Phase parents as possible to our SQA Assessment Information evening on Tuesday, 11th January 2022 at 18.30 on Microsoft Teams.  If you have not received your invite via email please contact the School Office on 01569 690550 and they will get the information to you.  Our Senior Phase pupils will also receive their full reports on Thursday, 13th January 2022 during the school day.  Any pupils not in school will have their reports posted out to them.

Thank you for your support at the start of what is likely to be another demanding term for all – it is very much appreciated.
