Senior Phase Pathways Information
Our Senior Phase Information Evening takes place on Tuesday, 5th February 2019 from 17.30 – 19.30 in the school.
Information related to course options available here at Mackie Academy can be found here. This allows you to find out more about the structure of the courses provided by staff at the school.
It is vitally important that both pupils and parents are aware of the changes made to National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher courses in terms of how they will be assessed as this may influence what suits a young person best going forwards in their learning pathway. Information related to this can be found in the documents below:
The school also works in conjunction with Further Education Providers and the Open University, through the Young Applicants in Schools Scheme (YASS), to provide as wide a range of options to our young people as possible whilst providing pathways for progression that suit all needs. Information on the YASS programme can be found here.
Information provided to pupils as part of their options process can be found below. It outlines the Further Education options available to pupils as part of their provision as a Mackie Academy pupil.
Learners now have the option to select a Foundation Apprenticeship as one of their senior phase subject choices to gain valuable work-based learning, develop their skills and acquire the industry-relevant qualifications to build their future career pathways. Further information about what a Foundation Apprenticeship is and what is on offer can be found here. In addition to this you can find more about how Foundation Apprenticeship qualifications are viewed by Higher Education institutions here.
