March 2023 update to our learning community

Dear Parent(s) and Carer(s),

February felt like a very short month taking into account holidays and disruption due to strike action.  I write this at a stage where I am hopeful that current discussions around the teacher pay dispute will be productive and avoid any further disruption later this month.

Staff continue to work hard in preparing our young people for their upcoming examinations and assessments and we will be publishing in the next week or so our offer of Easter revision sessions alongside those that are available virtually to students across Scotland through E-Sgoil.

Work is full speed ahead with our options pathways process for 2023-24 and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all those parents and carers that have engaged positively and proactively with the school over the course of the last two months through the events that have been held to support our young people in their decision making process.

Our Pupil and Parent Information Site continues to be updated and you may find the following useful to take a look at:

School News – information about next week’s “Scottish Apprenticeship Week” can be found here as can information to help parents with the current cost of living crisis from Parent Club and the latest update from Police Scotland around our young people in the North East.

National and Local Authority News – the public consultation around Aberdeenshire’s Autism Strategy so if you want to get involved you can find the information here about it.  There is also information here from Aberdeenshire Council around Money and Wellbeing sessions as well as the Scottish Child Payment that parents and carers may find useful.

Curriculum Pathways and SQA Information – please find the latest updates on both these topics on this page.

The end of this month fits in with the end of term and although we have a busy four weeks ahead of us I am sure they will be exceptionally productive.  We look forward to our Dance Showcase on Wednesday, 15th March 2023 in the Learning Plaza and our Spring Concert on Wednesday, 22nd March 2023 in the Main Hall.  Alongside that we have our final Parents Evening of the year with S1 next week and we see parents of our prospective S1 parents in school on Thursday, 17th March 2023.  A busy and productive time for us all.

Take care everyone,

Louise Moir
