Mackie Academy Parent Council AGM: Tuesday, 30th August 2022 at 19.00
Mackie Academy Parent Council AGM takes place on Tuesday, 30th August 2022 at 19.00. For the first time in three years we are able to have our AGM in person here at Mackie Academy in our library. However, if anyone cannot attend for any reason please email the Parent Council on firstname.lastname@example.org and a link will be sent for you to join the meeting remotely. This will be sent out at the beginning of next week.
Understanding what goes on in school and having a say in what happens there is important to all of us. The purpose of the Parent Council is to provide a voice for all our parents and carers working with the school and the local authority on issues that are important to us and our children. As parents and carers, we have a lot to offer the school in terms of skills, interests, experience and knowledge and it is this partnership that helps to provide the best education for our children.
Being involved in the Parent Council can involve as much or as little time as you like. In terms of time, we meet six times each academic year for approximately two hours where we discuss any current, strategic issues for the school and local community. We are often joined by others from services within the council and further afield to ensure that members feel they have a full understanding of key issues affecting the school.
We are always looking for new members and would be delighted to see some new faces at our AGM. It is not a huge commitment in terms of time but is hugely rewarding, so come along and join us to see what it’s all about or if you would like more information email us at MackiePC@hotmail.co.uk. You can also find more details about us on the school website: https://mackie.aberdeenshire.sch.uk/parent-council/ about what we have been discussing this year and how the Parent Council operates.
If you want to see how a Parent Council works at Mackie Academy why not just come along as an observer to AGM? It would be great to see you there. You can meet current members and discuss the benefits of being a member of the Parent Council. The Parent Council can only continue its great work through the membership of parents, and we hope you will consider taking on this role.
